Jhansi diocese is in northern India’s state of Uttar Pradesh. It has an area of 29,418 square kilometers, with seven civil districts: Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Banda, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, and Mahoba. There are 12,832 Catholics, representing 0.046 percent of 82, 32,071 people in the territory.

The devotion to St. Jude Thaddaeus, was practically unknown in India, and it was the late Bishop F. X. Fenech who started it in Jhansi, which was a Prefecture Apostolic in those days.
