St Jude’s / Germany Hospital
St. Jude’s hospital, Jhansi – popularly known as Germany hospital was inaugurated on 23rd September 1956. It was the initiative of the late bishop Rt. Rev. Francis Xavier Fenech of Jhansi diocese to cater to the poorer sections of the people of the city and the surrounding villages. The first hospital wards were a renovated school building with bed strength of 50. From 1956 – 1970 the hospital was under the management of the lay Missionary Sisters of Wurzburg, Germany. Their hard work and dedication made it the premier health care center in Jhansi at that time. From 1970 the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery took over the administration of the hospital. At that time the bed strength was 80 with medical, surgical, pediatric and maternity departments, outpatient department, and Laboratory, X-ray and operation theatre. The hospital belongs to the diocese of Jhansi and the bishop of Jhansi is the president of the governing body.
St. Mary’s Hospital (CJ)
In 1998 Sisters of Congregation Jesu started a dispensary with Sr. Julita. In 2005 they constructed a hospital on the land they bought for themselves on the road side. The congregation is administering this st. Mary’s Hospital, Mauranipur the health work for the locality.
