Divine Mercy Orai
Orai, being a very important station in the district of Jalaun, the Very Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier, deputed Fr. George of Floriana, OFM, Cap. to open a Mission
here and dedicated it to St. Publius, a Martyr and the first Bishop of Malta. The Mission was inaugurated on the 21st January, 1940, the Feast of the Patron Saint. There were 15 Catholics at that time. Later, the IMS Fathers in 1991
started to stay at Amar Jyoti Church situated in State Bank Colony, Rajender Nagar, Orai, In 2009. It was shifted to Mavai village with the name Divine Mercy Church. Divine Mercy Mission came up through the hard missionary endeavours of our diocesan priests especially Fr. Harold. The sisters of DSH congregation run an English Medium School named “Sacred Heart Centenary Academy” while the sisters belonging to the Ursuline Sisters of St. Jerome in Somasca assist in the Divine Mercy English Medium School. The school is affiliated to CBSE Board and having classes up to XII std. Presently, Fr Ala Ramesh heads the mission.
