St. Joseph’s Mission
Mahoba had been visited especially on account of the Railway people, but when Rev. Fr. Pius of Bombay, O.C. was sent there to visit the station in January
1939 he found there about 23 Catholics and a good number of Protestants ready to be converted. For this reason, the Very Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier O.C., Sup. Reg. of the Maltese Fathers, soon sent there the Rev. Fr. Pius Mary of Malta, who
leased a house near the Railway station, and, helped by Bro, Leo T.O.S.F., in less than one year increased the number of Catholics to more than 52. Later, land in Mahoba was bought in 1940 by Fr. Didacus Joseph OMC from the Governor of United Province. The Mission and the Hindi medium School were established in 1963
by Fr. Michael Kaithathara with 4 students. The CFMSS sisters
from Dehradun joined the school in 1979. St Joseph’s English
Medium Senior Secondary School was established in 1997 by Fr.
Mathew A. In 2006, separate building was built for the English
Medium School by Fr. I Paulraj. St Joseph’s Sevika Sisters from
Indore joined the English Medium School as staff in 2004. A
small dispensary is also run by them in the campus. The Sisters
of the Congregation of Immaculate Conception have reached the
mission to render their service in the English Medium School in
July 2024.
