St. Thomas Mission

Chitrakoot is the holy land of Hindu brethren. A land of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman. A long-awaited dream of Bishop Frederick D’ Souza became a reality in the year 2002 when Fr. Ronald D’Souza pioneered St. Thomas Mission and School in Karwi. Staying in a rented house in Karwi, he started an English Medium School with the help of 4 teachers, catering to 140 students. Soon, Fr. Ronald bought a six and half acres of land in Shivrampur near Karwi and built the school. Sisters from Venerini Congregation landed in Karwi in 2006 to help out in education ministry.

St. Thomas English Medium School is a CBSE affiliated co-educational institution having 1800 students and 60 teachers. Today, it is one of the premier institutions in the district of Chitrakoot, known for its excellence in education,
discipline and leadership. At present the school is managed by Fr. Denis Mascarenhas, the principal. The newly appointed Principal, Fr Bastin Arackal would assume the office in May 2025.
