In 1947, a big plot of land along with a farmhouse was bought by the Catholic
Missionaries from the family of the famous Hindi writer and novelist
Sri Vrindavan Lal Verma. The farmhouse and the property were looked after
by the Franciscan Brothers of the Blessed Sacrament (FBBS), a religious congregation of Diocesan Order of Jhansi. This diocesan congregation was amalgamated with the congregation of the missionary brothers of Francis of Assisi. In 1995, a portion of the land was entrusted to the care of MMB brothers. In 1996, brothers opened a school for the Differently Abled children. In course of time, late Bishop Frederick D’Souza envisioned that various religious congregations could open formation houses and accordingly plots of land allotted to them. The campus is blessed with the presence of St. John’s Seminary (shifted from St John’s, Premanagar), CTC novitiate, DSS Provincialate cum formation house, St. Charles Borromeo formation house, and DSH Provincialate and novitiate. Recently DSS sisters have started a rehabilitation centre for the HIV and TB patients.

The mission has a beautiful church built in 2000 by Fr. Peter Parapullil, the then parish priest. The mission from its beginning has a community of believers. Priests from Jhansi have been
attending to the spiritual needs of both the religious and laity. Fr. Vincent Soares was the first parish priest who had his residence inJudepur and started to maintain separate registers for the parish.
He was also instrumental in helping the Catholics to build a small
colony close to the present Church. St. Jude’s English Medium
School was opened in 2014. Fr. Stephen was appointed as the first
principal of this school. At present the school which is affiliated to
CBSE is managed by Fr. Richard Sequeira. Fr Ramesh Saginala
is the newly appointed Principal.

Fr. Vincent Soares was the first parish priest who had his residence in Judepur and started to maintain separate registers for the parish. He was also instrumental in helping the Catholics to build a small colony at the road side. In 2014 we started a school for this area. Fr. Stephen is appointed as the first principal of this school. According to the contract with the sisters, they are supposed to give two sisters from each community to help in the running of school.

Arunodaya Special School (MMB) Rt. Rev. Frederick D’Souza, the then bishop of Jhansi, invited Malabar Missionary Brothers and were entrusted with the responsibility of up-keeping the Farm House in the initial stage.

When the Brothers realized that their mission of empowering the
differently abled children who are ignored by their relatives and
society, and are isolated in the dark corners of their homes, the
brothers with fraternal love and blessings from the diocese initiated
a humble beginning in the name of ‘Arunodaya Special School’
at Judepur, Jhansi on July 3, 1996. Arunodaya had its humble
beginning with just six children in a small room of brothers’
residence itself. In the year 2001 a separate school was built with
class rooms and other facilities. In the year 2005, as the school
was recognized by State Government for inclusive education as
well as the need of assisting the children with hearing disabilities,
a section was started for the hearing impaired as well.
