St Jude’s Shrine

The devotion to St. Jude Thaddeus was practically unknown to India. Late Bishop F.X. Fenech started the devotion to St. Jude in Jhansi. Bishop himself being a man of great faith had made a promise to St. Jude that if he was helped, he would honour St. Jude by building a shrine. He made use of the media available, publishing his intention in the Catholic Herald of England as well as The Examiner which is an Indian Catholic Newspaper. The devotion began to grow and expand. Bishop, with the help of the devotees, built a temporary chapel in honour of St Jude. This was dedicated to Immaculate Conception and a statue of St. Jude was installed on the side altar.

Bishop Fenech appointed Fr. Canon John Metcalf as procurator and promotor of newly initiated devotion. After 4 years, Fr. Publius Cassar who was then parish priest of the Sacred Heart Church, started the newly built chapel for St. Jude’s devotion. For convenience’s sake, he replaced St. Jude’s statue with the statue of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception and beautified the main altar and sanctuary, installed neon lights around the niche of St. Jude with the words, “St. Jude, pray for us”. Thus, the devotion to St. Jude was spread in Jhansi. The foundation stone of St. Jude’s Shrine was laid down by Bishop F.X. Fenech, the first bishop of Jhansi on October 29, 1956 and it was blessed in the year 1966. The St Jude Shrine Parish was bifurcated from the Sacred Heart parish in 1980 and Fr. Augustine N.D. was appointed as the first parish priest. The Shrine celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2016 and Archbishop Albert D’Souza was the chief prelate of the celebrations in Jhansi. Thousands of devotees from all over
India gather at the Shrine to celebrate the feast of St. Jude on 28th October.

Christ the King College (ICSE)

Christ the King College was Established: 1940 | Patron: Christ the King.  It began as a very small effort. History says that when it began it had only a thatched roof under a tree down as we walk in on to the left hand side of the present day office front.

Facets have changed drastically as we watch it now.  The story tells a simple fact, today you fetch a brik, and tomorrow a second, the day after another… as the days  pass you will have is no more few brick, but a monument.

Similar is the focus in the academic.  Keep fetching the pebble of knowledge, one at a time through the meticulous time table and innumerable activities.  Then will come a day that will fetch a mountain size achievements that reflect brilliance.

C.K.C. Academy (CBSE)

C.K.C. Academy was Established in  2014, Prunig out from Christ the King College  which was initially the primary wing of CKC.  It caters quality education, to which numerous families of the city circle opt to place their children for education.

It caters to the acadamic development in a holistic manner with physical as well as cultural activities, for which an auditorium with advance mindset do provide the space.

Mother Teresa Home / Shishu Bhavan / Nirmal Hriday (MC)

Mother Teresa Home was Established in 1960, in the heart of the main land Jhansi.  Differently able children as well a grown ups are taken care at different portion of the building.  The inmates include those who are abandoned, those who have no one to take care, those who are extremely helpless.  All of them experience love and care from the hand of Mother Teresa Sister.

In short we can say that God’s love is expressed in action amidst the down troden.  The service to those who have no one to care is tremendous.  The hardships sometimes to live such a service to the helpless, needs strength and courage as well as God’s Grace, which is in surplus under the roof of Mother Teresa Sister.
